The idea
Essence treats the filesystem as the durable product surface. Notes, tasks, reviews, goals, and personal records remain ordinary Markdown files that can be opened with any editor.
The interaction model
Specialized agent commands handle capture, memory, tasks, reviews, health, finance, and recurring workflows. Templates keep the generated files consistent without requiring a database or a hosted account.
The trade-off
The system favors ownership and portability over a polished standalone application. That makes the data inspectable and future-proof, while leaving presentation to the user’s existing editor.
