The problem
Long agent sessions bury the goal and the decisions that matter under tool output and intermediate turns.
The approach
Chat Summary keeps one cumulative recap in the transcript: a short summary plus up to five focused bullets. It updates after completed turns, follows session branches, and excludes tool calls and results by default.
Configuration
Global settings live in ~/.pi/agent/chat-summary.json, with overrides for
trusted projects and editable summary guidance. Summary generation runs outside
the main transcript.
