The problem
Trying a different direction in an agent session usually means abandoning the current one or waiting for it to finish.
The approach
/herdr-fork (or Ctrl+Alt+F, even mid-response) copies the conversation into
a new Herdr pane or tab. Forking from the current state behaves like Pi’s
/clone; forking from an earlier message restores that message to the editor so
it can be edited and resent.
Reliability choices
A mid-response fork ends at the last point where every tool call has its result.
The handoff message travels through a private 0600 temporary file that is
deleted once read, and the original session is never modified. No network
requests are made.
