The problem
Running coding agents in several projects at once means a lot of tmux sessions and a lot of checking. A task finishes or an agent asks a question in one project while you are working in another, and you only find out when you go looking.
The approach
Kata gives every registered project a persistent tmux session with a layout
for editor, shell, and tests. Ctrl+Space opens a popup switcher from any
session, and a Textual dashboard lists projects by group with their git branch
and dirty state.
Hooks for Claude Code, Gemini CLI, and Codex send an event when a task
finishes, a question is asked, or an error occurs. Kata shows it as a macOS
notification, in a notification center on Ctrl+N, and as a sound.
Deduplication, cooldowns, and per-project toggles keep the alerts down to the
ones that matter.
Other details
kata scanfinds and imports existing projects, and detects Python, Node.js, and Go projects to pick a layout.Ctrl+Wcreates, switches, and deletes git worktrees, with the option to fork, summarize, or start fresh agent context.- A morning routine launches the day’s projects at once, and a return loop brings the dashboard back after every detach.
